Of board games played by old geezers sitting in the back of your nearest local pub? The genre may get an unfair rap for being “too nerdy” or “complex,” but that should not always be the case.
Throughout history, the RPG genre has offered some of the most complex gameplay and storytelling within the medium of video games. This 2020, the RPG genre hit some remarkable strides with some highly-anticipated releases. Along with Final Fantasy VII Remake, we also saw other games that contain more “freedom,” like Cyberpunk 2077 and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
When the pandemic hit, we bid farewell to our loved ones and everything else beyond the walls of our homes. Now, with the outside world temporarily lost, we tried to look for a haven inside. And there, as if destined, sat Among Us. Millions of people who were hooked up on their phones remembered what it was to sit and play NES games. They began to play games again, but this time as a form of hobby.
