The Piercing Augment for Rapid Fire makes projectiles pass through the first enemy hit. In density, this build’s damage multiplies with every additional target in line.

Tips From My Testing

You absolutely need the Serpent’s Fang unique for this build to reach its ceiling. Without it, the Poison stacks are decent damage. With it, they become your primary damage source. Farm Lord of Hatred content specifically until it drops.

Keep firing even when enemies seem dead. The Poison stacks continue ticking and with Creeping Death extending duration, dying enemies often kill nearby ones through Poison spread. Let the damage over time do its job.

Best Druid Build: Lightning Storm Tempest

Druid has been in a weird spot since launch. Lord of Hatred finally gave it a clearly dominant build. Lightning Storm with the Tempest Augment is genuinely broken in the best way.

Why This Build Works

The Tempest Augment changes Lightning Storm from a channeled spell into an automatic storm that follows you for eight seconds after casting. You cast it once, then go about your business while lightning rains down on everything nearby.

This frees you to use Spirit skills and companion abilities while Storm handles continuous AoE damage. The Thunderlord Runeword pair increases Lightning damage by 45% while you have an active Storm. Since Storm lasts eight seconds and cooldown is six, you can maintain near-permanent uptime with CDR investment.

The Detonator Augment makes Bone Spirit explode twice. First on impact, then again 0.5 seconds later in a larger radius. Both hits benefit from all your damage multipliers independently. Effectively, you are doubling the already massive Bone Spirit damage.

The Soul Harvest Runeword pair grants 80% increased damage to your next skill after consuming a Corpse. Bone Spirit already consumes all your Essence. Adding Corpse consumption before each cast through Corpse Explosion creates a loop: explode corpse for buff, fire Bone Spirit for massive hit, enemies die creating more corpses.

This build is all about the single massive hit. Everything between Bone Spirit casts is setup. Generate Essence. Position corpses. Pop Soul Harvest buff. Then fire.

Timing matters against mobile bosses. Bone Spirit has travel time. If the boss moves between your first and second detonation, the second hit misses. Learn boss movement patterns and fire during stationary phases.

Best Spiritborn Build: Centipede Poison Hurricane

The newest class from Vessel of Hatred continues to dominate. Spiritborn using the Centipede spirit guardian with Poison synergies is still the highest overall DPS class in Season 8.

Why This Build Works

The Centipede’s Venom passive stacks Poison on every hit. Combined with the Hurricane Augment on Stinging Swarm, which creates a rotating vortex of projectiles around you, the Poison application rate is insane. Every projectile in the vortex applies a separate Poison stack.

The Venomous Gale Runeword pair increases your damage by 5% per unique Poison stack on nearby enemies, capping at 100% bonus damage. In density with 20 poisoned enemies, that is a permanent doubling of all your damage.

Your survival comes from the Centipede’s inherent lifesteal on Poison damage. More stacks equals more healing. I found I could facetank Pit 150 elites without health potions as long as trash mobs were dying nearby and spreading Poison.

General Tips for Lord of Hatred Endgame

A few things that apply regardless of which class you pick.

Farm Runewords early. The difference between having your core Runeword and not having it is massive. I’m talking 50 to 100% damage increases. Run Helltides and Whisper bounties in Nahantu specifically for Rune drops.

Max your Hatred Paragon nodes before pushing high Pits. These nodes provide build-defining multipliers. Without them, most builds hit a wall around Pit 120 regardless of gear quality.

Reroll at least twice. Seriously. The expansion made every class feel distinct and powerful. Playing one class and assuming it represents the full experience is leaving content on the table. I thought I was a Barbarian main until I tried Spiritborn. Now I can’t go back.
